Is Obama talling the truth about Immigration reform?

Obama was unable to at a bipartisan health care bill, what makes him think he can corral the GOP into a bipartisan bill to grant amnesty to those who first broke the law by coming and now are crying foul because most American want the rule of law followed. I heard on Night line that their might be as high as 50 million illegals in the USA.
