What are some World War II recipes that helped with rationing? PLEASE HELP!?

The most famous of all is RED VELVET CAKE, invented by the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in NY. Since chocolate was rationed, you just used about 1 TB of cocoa and lots of red food color, to give the intense color. MOCK APPLE PIE was also invented, which used Ritz crackers for the filling, and no apples at all
