Regular Bowlers: Why can't I find a decent reliable pro shop?

I live in Philadelphia and all the area bowling alleys seem to have pro shops. But all have very limited hours on weekends, usually a one person crew, and are absolutely TINY. They all have no concept of variety or volume. Most of these places look like walk-in display cases. None of the alleys post pro shop hours, even the main hours, on their websites. Whatever happened to customer service?
